RCAF fighter jets to conduct flybys to kick-off Grey Cup Championship game

Royal Canadian Air Force CF-18 Hornet fighter jets will conduct two flybys over Tim Hortons Field in Hamilton, Ont., at the end of the national anthem and at the start of the Grey Cup Championship game on Sunday, December 12.

The aircraft will fly over the stadium at an altitude no lower than 500 feet above the highest point of their route. Flybys by RCAF aircraft are carefully planned and closely controlled for public safety.

The CF-18 Hornets conducting the flyby recently returned to Canada from a deployment to Romania on Operation REASSURANCE, which is Canada’s contribution to NATO assurance and deterrence measures in Eastern Europe.

The RCAF is proud to share in national sporting events such as this, with flybys that allow us to demonstrate to Canadians the capabilities of our personnel and aircraft.
