CAF Exercise ARDENT DEFENDER 2025 | Canadian Defence Review
ARDENT DEFENDER is a multinational counter-improvised explosive device (C-IED) Exercise hosted by Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) organization.
ARDENT DEFENDER has been training NATO allies every year since 2013. This was the third year it was held at Gagetown, making use of the Camp Argonaut Training Centre as a staging area to support participants.

The Precision Strike Missile (PrSM) is our next-generation, long-range precision-strike missile designed for the U.S. Army’s PrSM program. Iconic Aircraft Series - CH-124 Sea King
Introduced in the 1960s, the Sea King served as a versatile helicopter for the RCAF. Known for its robust design and adaptability, it played critical roles in anti-submarine warfare, search and rescue, and various naval operations. The Sea King’s advanced avionics and sonar systems made it an invaluable asset in maritime defence. Its long service life and numerous missions underscore its reliability and effectiveness in protecting Canada’s waters.
From a rotary wing perspective, IMP Group Ltd. provided support to the RCAF’s CH-124 Sea King fleet for over 50 years until it was retired in 2018.
Building the Fleet of the Future
Two new vessels currently being built by Irving Shipbuilding Inc. They will proudly bear the names of two iconic glaciers in Yukon and Nunavut: CCGS Donjek Glacier and CCGS Sermilik Glacier. These versatile, ice-capable ships are set to primarily support fisheries enforcement and surveillance missions on the East Coast. However, their capabilities extend far beyond, aiding in a variety of critical operations central to our mandate.
Meet The River-Class Destroyer - State-of-the-art WARSHIP!
The CSC project will equip our fleet with 15 new, state-of-the-art warships to bolster our capabilities at home, and abroad for decades. Today’s start of construction is on the production test module, where Canada and Irving Shipbuilding Inc will be able to test, adapt and enhance the build process. This should allow the River-Class Destroyers to be in full rate production in 2025, with the delivery of the HMCS Fraser expected in the early 2030’s.
