PRESIDENT Trump says all Canadian-built aircraft would be decertified until Gulfstream is fully certified

U.S. President Donald Trump is targeting Canada’s aerospace industry on a recent Truth Social post, which states his threat to decertify Bombardier‘s Global Expresses and all aircraft made in Canada until U.S. aviation company Gulfstream is fully certified.

President Trump threatened to charge Canada tariffs at 50% on any and all aircraft sold to the United States of America if the situation is not “immediately corrected”.

Bombardier has taken note of the post and is currently in contact with the Canadian government.

Bloc Québécois Leader Yves-François Blanchet stated, “This threat jeopardizes economic stability and the air transport network of the entire continent on false grounds and potentially its safety.”

This threat comes after Trump’s tariff threats to EU countries opposing U.S. purchase of Greenland and 100 per cent tariffs threat on all goods if Prime Minister Mark Carney proceeds with the China trade deal.

The post reads:

Based on the fact that Canada has wrongfully, illegally, and steadfastly refused to certify the Gulfstream 500, 600, 700, and 800 Jets, one of the greatest, most technologically advanced airplanes ever made, we are hereby decertifying their Bombardier Global Expresses, and all Aircraft made in Canada, until such time as Gulfstream, a Great American Company, is fully certified, as it should have been many years ago. Further, Canada is effectively prohibiting the sale of Gulfstream products in Canada through this very same certification process. If, for any reason, this situation is not immediately corrected, I am going to charge Canada a 50% Tariff on any and all Aircraft sold into the United States of America. Thank you for your attention to this matter!
DONALD J. TRUMP PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
