Planning Being Finalized for Largest DEFSEC Atlantic Yet

DEFSEC released the following statement regarding the upcoming tradeshow and conference:

One year ago, we made the difficult but necessary decision to postpone DEFSEC Atlantic until 2021. With 70% of the floor sold in a venue that had been home for 15 years we asked our committed exhibitors to trust us. Trust us to keep them safe. To trust us keep working toward a productive and effective return. And for many, to trust us with their money.

Over 50 companies did just that – and we have kept working. Our Board of Directors kept our team together, supported and focused us on the long-term health of our not-for-profit Association. We have forged a deeper and long-term partnership with the Atlantic Canada Aerospace and Defence Association. And now we are just over two months from a successful return.

We have an exciting and expanded new venue, the Halifax Convention Centre, and the honour and responsibility to host the first in-person industry event in Canada since the pandemic began.

After a heartfelt thank you to those who stuck with us and a hearty East Coast welcome to those who are joining us, let’s get to the finish line!

Here are some current items of note:

Over 1000 in-person attendees expected

• Hundreds more from around the globe expected via our virtual platform

• Powerful integrated Web Platform that includes registration, video presentations and the “Exhibitor Wall” planning tool

• Digital Show Guide & Event App putting all your event details and communications tools in a portable format at your fingertips

• Introducing an all-in-one B2B Meetings web platform combining matchmaking, scheduling and video conferencing (for virtual meetings) in one site

• An all-new modern venue with an expanded exhibition space, the ACADA Presentation Pavilion and several networking spaces on-site

Based on our latest guidance for planning, we expect that indoor gathering rules will allow for free-flow of attendees in all indoor spaces at DEFSEC Atlantic. Accordingly, we are planning for freedom of movement for the attendees throughout the venue.

Thanks to rising vaccination rates and borders re-opening, we will welcome all Canadians who can now visit Nova Scotia. American and other international participants will see their opportunities to participate increase as borders open over the coming weeks. Our attendance policy can be found on our website. Attendees will need to be fully vaccinated (by Canadian standards) by mid-September in order to attend in-person.

We are committed to creating a safe environment for our industry members to get their business done while protecting the health and safety of those in attendance and residents of the province at large. This policy will also show our Canadian Forces and Department of National Defence participants and leadership that we support their “Fit to Fight” approach to the pandemic and give them assurance that their members are entering a safe space to engage with our attending companies.

Look forward to information next week regarding meeting room bookings, available booth spaces remaining, hotel & restaurant information, and much more! Our initial program and schedule will also be posted and will evolve as sponsorships are finalized.
