NP Aerospace Delivers Major UK MoD Contract

NP Aerospace, a majority Pasqua First Nation owned global armour technology manufacturer and vehicle integrator, has delivered over nine months of a $106m (£63m) UK MoD contract for vehicle Protected Mobility Engineering & Technical Support (PMETS).

NP Aerospace is owned by the Pasqua First Nation located in the province of Saskatchewan and NP Aerospace Executive, James Kempston, who is CEO. The contract with the UK MoD won in January 2019 covers its fleet of 2,200 Protected Mobility Vehicles until 2024, including Foxhound, Mastiff, Wolfhound, Ridgback, Buffalo, Choker, RODET, Jackal, Coyote and Husky. The PMETS program ensures they are upgraded to the highest standards and remain ready for combat.

The UK MoD contract coincides with Canada’s Department of National Defence (DND) issuing full options on a $33 million contract for lightweight ballistic helmets and spare components over a seven-year period announced in May.

At the PMETS contract award, Major General Colin McClean, Director Land Equipment, DE&S (*Defence Equipment & Support), stated: “The Protected Mobility fleet has been hugely important for defence over the last 15 years, saving numerous lives on operations. It is vital that we continue to invest in our battle-winning capabilities, ensuring that they are always ready for training or operational purposes. Given its significant role now and in the future, I am pleased we are partnering with NP Aerospace to deliver this contract”.

NP Aerospace is the lead vehicle integration and engineering authority on the program, working closely with all of the vehicle OEMs and in collaboration with the following partners: Atkins – Systems Safety Partner, HORIBA MIRA – Vehicle Engineering and Test Partner, ITS – Integrated Logistics Support Partner.

Richard Missens, CEO, PFN Group of Companies, comments: “We have had a great first year in business under the NP Aerospace brand across both our personal armour portfolio and vehicle integration business. The PMETS vehicle contract with the UK MoD and ballistic helmets contract with the Canadian DND is a testament to our strength in the defence market. We look forward to delivering further armour innovation throughout these programs.”

James Kempston, CEO, NP Aerospace, said: “Having NP Aerospace centrally managing the collaborative program and the full fleet of vehicles creates efficiency through component and system commonality. We look forward to applying this experience to our future innovative work with MoD and our other customers around the world.”
