Mike Mueller Welcomes New Support for Sustainable Aviation Technology

Mike Mueller, President and CEO of the Aerospace Industries Association (AIAC), issued the following statement today on three new aerospace projects being launched by AIAC members Pratt & Whitney Canada in partnership with De Havilland, CAE, and Bell Textron, with the support of the Government of Canada and the Government of Quebec.

“It was an honour to represent Canada’s national aerospace industry at today’s event to support these tremendous Canadian aerospace companies and the 235,000 direct and indirect jobs supported by the entire industry from coast to coast to coast.

“Due to our collective efforts, this industry saw a win in Budget 2021 with sector-specific measures earmarked to help support Canada’s economic recovery, while creating thousands of new jobs, including in the new era of sustainable aerospace technologies. Ensuring these promised investments become reality for the benefit of Canada’s entire aerospace supply chain remains a top priority.

“The Aerospace Regional Recovery Initiative, also launched today, has a key role to play and we’ll continue to work closely with the federal government to ensure that small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), across the value chain and in every region of the country, have access to this program on an equal footing.

“Looking forward, a national aerospace plan – spanning the civil, defence and space sectors – is essential to ensure Canada is positioned for growth and leadership in the highly competitive global aerospace marketplace.

“I’d like to thank the Government of Canada and the Government of Quebec for their support of the projects announced today. Let’s continue to work closely towards a national plan for this strategic industry, ensuring jobs and growth across the country for decades to come.”
