Canada's Leading Defence Magazine

Linda Wolstencroft was a Long Time CDR Contributor

CDR is sad to report that a long-time contributor to the magazine, Linda Wolstencroft, passed away unexpectedly on February 6, 2023. Linda was well-known in Canada’s defence and aerospace community, having worked in that sector for many years as a valued consultant. She was only 59 years old.

Linda is survived by husband Michel Poisson and her three sons, Eric Poisson-Michelle Kerr of Ottawa, Jacob Wolstencroft of London England, and Trevor Poisson-Chantel Stanley of Calgary as well as six grandchildren, Haileigh , Noah, Lucas, Marley and Mack in Ottawa and Katrina in Calgary.

Linda was born in Vancouver, BC in 1963 and moved to Calgary in 2015. She graduated from the University of British Columbia with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, and was a member of the Association of Professional of Engineer of Ontario and completed her Master of Business Administration from York University in 1993.

CDR Editor-in-Chief, Peter Kitchen, said, “Linda was always a joy to work with and a real pro. We will miss her engaging smile and her valuable insights into defence contracting. Her well-read Defence Marketing column in CDR was much appreciated by CDR readers.”

Although she was a trained engineer, many people would be surprised to learn that Linda was an accomplished musician, having been granted Affiliate Grade 10 membership in the Alberta Registered Music Teachers Association. She had a deep passion for classical piano and spent numerous hours playing each day. There will be a Celebration of Life on February 18, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. In living memory of Linda Wolstencroft, a tree will be planted in the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area.
