The SMM (Shipbuilding, Machinery & Marine Technology) Exhibition in Hamburg, renowned as one of the world’s largest maritime trade fairs, recently united visionaries, and industry leaders under one roof. Spanning an impressive 90,0000 square meters, the event was a hub of innovation, attracting global leaders eager to chart the future of the marine industry. Among this year’s standout participants was Duke Smart Staffing Solutions (Duke), a rising force in the marine and defence sectors, showcasing its unmatched expertise in staffing and contributions to the evolving North American shipbuilding landscape.

Held biennially, SMM is more than just a trade fair—it’s a global stage where breakthroughs in maritime technology and collaborations take center stage. The 2024 edition saw over 40,000 attendees, including shipbuilders, engineers, suppliers, and government officials, all navigating the tides of change and technological advancement within the sector. This year, one theme stood out more than ever: talent and lack thereof. With the maritime industry becoming increasingly competitive, the hunt for skilled professionals has never been more urgent, and everyone was looking for ways to bridge the talent gap.
