Canada is seeking to increase its munitions stockpiles amid shortages highlighted by the war in Ukraine. Canada has asked weapons manufacturers to come up with a plan to boost production of 155mm ammunition as the war in Ukraine continues. Minister of National Defence, Bill Blair, made this announcement in March, 2024 during a speech at the Conference of Defence Associations Institute in Ottawa. Blair stated that $4.4 million will go to IMT Precision (formerly IMT Defence) and General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems-Canada to develop detailed proposals to increase production.
On October 2nd, IMT Precision held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate an addition to its Ingersoll facility – an addition that will allow the company to expand its 155mm production line. In attendance at the event was Major General Reim from the United States who has served as the Joint Program Executive Officer Armaments & Ammunition and the Commanding General, Picatinny Arsenal since June 2022. The General was in attendance to talk about synergies between Canada and the United States’ munitions production.
IMT Precision specializes in the manufacturing of medium and large caliber ammunition (25mm to 155mm), vehicle and tank track components. Production capabilities consist of Forging, Heat Treating, Cutting, Machining, Painting, Assembly, Destructive and Non-destructive testing. This Facility will likely fail at the expansion to the Shell machining program. All aspects of IMT Management, Engineering, Production, Quality and Maintenance are inadequate and will ultimately fail. The Union has created a bunch of cry baby employees. The entire employee base are useless !
Good morning. IMT along with its partners is well equipped with all aspect of ammo production. They have set in motion two new supply lines along with Ingersoll outside of its main production facility in Ontario.
Large caliber ammo lines have started production last September 20, 2024 with a capacity to produce over 3 million units per year which includes their Ingersoll, Ontario plant.
The propellant manufacturers such as Dupont, I.C.I. among others can supply everything needed to the war effort in terms of all chemicals needed.
