HFX Announces Special Session for the Defence Industry at the 2026 Halifax International Security Forum
HFX announced that – for the first time – it will convene a special session for leaders from the defence industry at its prestigious Halifax International Security Forum. The Special Session: Defence Industry will take place Sunday afternoon, November 22, 2026.
“As an independent organisation committed to strengthening strategic cooperation among the world’s democracies, we have convened the world’s leading decision-makers for nearly 20 years,” HFX President Peter Van Praagh said. “It is natural and important at this time for HFX to convene leaders from the defence industry together with trustworthy experts and government decision-makers to help Canada achieve the important and ambitious goals laid out in its Defence Industrial Strategy.”
Canada’s Defence Industrial Strategy was released earlier this year and states that it was spurred by the sure knowledge that Canada’s sovereignty and its national security depend on a strong industrial and technological base that supports defence readiness and economic resilience. The strategy affirms that Canada’s national security and its economic security go hand in hand.
More details about the Special Session: Defence Industry will be made available at hfx.halifaxtheforum.org in the coming weeks.
HFX is an independent, non-profit, non-partisan organisation committed to the idea that true security is achieved only when people enjoy the benefits of democracy, leading in turn to economic security and lasting peace. Democracy = Security.
