IMP Academy Relaunches Aircraft Maintenance Apprenticeship Program in Halifax This September
IMP Academy is pleased to announce the relaunch of its Aircraft Maintenance Apprenticeship Program at its Halifax facility this September, reaffirming its commitment to developing the next generation of skilled aerospace professionals in Atlantic Canada.
Designed as a tuition-free, four-year earn-and-learn apprenticeship, the IMP Academy program provides participants with a direct pathway into a rewarding career in the aviation and aerospace sector. The program combines paid, hands-on work experience with structured technical training, enabling students to build real-world skills while working toward industry-recognized qualifications.
The program begins with a four-week Introduction to Aerospace Skilled Trades course, delivered at IMP’s Halifax operations. This foundational course introduces participants to core aircraft maintenance concepts, safety practices, and technical skills essential to success in today’s evolving aerospace environment. Graduates of the introductory course may then apply to the full Aircraft Maintenance Apprenticeship Program, a no-cost, four-level apprenticeship that integrates classroom learning with practical shop experience.
“IMP Academy represents a meaningful investment in both people and the future of Canada’s aerospace industry,” said a current Halifax-based student. “The combination of theory and hands-on training provides an excellent learning environment and a clear path to a long-term career in aircraft maintenance.”
With the September relaunch, IMP Academy continues to strengthen its role as a workforce development leader, supporting regional talent and addressing the growing demand for skilled aircraft maintenance professionals.
